UAV Flight Safety
Rules changed and drone flight are now permitted in many more places
An operations plan for each commercial flight is written & checked before any flights are undertaken
We always ensure our flights are both legal and safe. Copies of our pilots CAA qualification and insurance certificate will always be send to clients prior to commencing flights.
All of our pilots have passed the CAA-approved exams, flight assessments, and hold the established industry Remote Pilot Qualification (RPQ-s) for multi-rotor aircraft under 7kg. All pilots are fully insured against injury and damage with at least £1 million public liability to fly at altitudes of up to 400 feet.
Before a commercial flight we will need to complete a full site survey and risk assessment. We do a detailed online pre-flight survey with a full location check that includes airspace restrictions, nearby airports and no fly zones to see if there are any flight restrictions we need to be aware of.
One of our trained observers may accompany our pilot on a commercial flight. Observers play a vital role in ensuring all flights are conducted safely. During each flight the observers will be constantly watching the ground and sky for anything that might put the drone or anyone on the ground in danger.
All flights are risk assessed on an individual basis in accordance with our CAA operations manual. We include cordons, clearly marked landing area, and ground safety personnel. All aircraft are fitted with “return to home” safety features.
We monitor the weather forecast 5 days in advance of any flight. If the signs are not good we talk to the client 48 hours prior to the flight. The pilot has final say when determining if flying conditions and the location can be deemed safe.
All of our equipment is maintained to the highest standards in accordance with our CAA operating procedures.
